INTRODUCTION
Department of Pharmacy was established in 1969 as the fourth department at FIPIA-USU, and transformed into the Faculty of Pharmacy (FoPh) since August 8, 2006 based on Decree of Rector No. 1050/J05/SK/KP/2006. The Faculty is the 11th faculty at the University of Sumatera Utara (USU).
The Faculty is governed by the Dean who is assisted by three Vice Dean they are for Academic Affairs, for Finance and Administration Affairs, and for Student Affairs.
The Faculty is located in Jl. Tridharma No. 5, Kampus USU Padang Bulan, southwest of Medan, which is 7 km from downtown. The campus of USU occupies 116 hectares with an area of academic zone of 93.4 ha which is the main center of the university.
The Faculty consisting of four departments, namely: Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Biology, and Pharmacology. It has five study programs which including regular undergraduate study, extension undergraduate study, professional program, diploma of pharmaceutical and food analysis program, and postgraduate study (master and doctoral).
To date, thousands of the Faculty’s graduates have been working in a widely distributed in various career options such as pharmaceutical/biomedical industry, pharmacy, hospitals, public health services, government institutions, university/colleges, Board of Halal Certification, professional pharmacy association, and research. Pharmacy offers a flexible work environment and a variety of geographical locations from large urban regions to small rural communities.

ACCREDITATION PROGRAMS
The pharmaceutical undergraduate degree program is accredited by National Accreditation Board of Indonesia for Higher Education (BAN-PT), by The Association of Indonesian Pharmaceutical Higher Education (Asosiasi Pendidikan Tinggi Farmasi Indonesia, APTFI), and by Indonesian Pharmacist Association (Ikatan Apoteker Indonesia).
